In my mind “Bio-Mass” is a wide ranging descriptor from forest management to utilising soft organic wastes to create bio-methane (and some CO2, H2S etc) as an integrated solution to national excess of food wastes, farming wastes, etc
But shipping wood pellets from the USA to burn in the DRAX power station in the UK (which sits upon the unrealised Selby Coal Field - the original fuel source of DRAX - AND to falsely claim carbon credits is pure fraud on an international scale that needs to be stopped

You have clearly exposed a marketing man’s approach to selling the concept of bio-mass.
Clearly it does not seem “sustainable” in any shape or form - the forest and ecological degradation, will as you point out lead to soil loss/erosion and potential landslides!
By selling wood chips or pellets to naive climate protagonists - so that they can sleep better at night in the “knowledge” that they have shipped off their CO2 account to somewhere else!
